Agility Robotics, founded as a spin-off from Oregon State University's Dynamic Robotics Lab in 2015, is the creator of Digit — the world's first commercially deployed bipedal robot in logistics environments. The company pioneered the idea that a robot's gait and locomotion could be engineered specifically for the cluttered, unpredictable terrain of warehouses and factories.
Digit is purpose-built for work environments: it can walk on any floor surface, navigate ramps and stairs, crouch to access low shelves, and carry up to 16kg of payload. Unlike humanoids designed to mimic human appearance, Digit's form factor prioritizes functional capability and collaboration with human workers.
Backed by Amazon, Digit has been deployed at Amazon fulfillment centers, GXO Logistics, and is now entering automotive manufacturing through a commercial agreement with Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada. In 2026, Agility rebranded simply as 'Agility,' reflecting its expanded ambitions beyond bipedal robots.
